MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito denounced yesterday the alleged corruption that depleted the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers or TUPAD program for San Juan residents.
Ejercito said he received information that city officials allegedly pocketed P6,500 from the P7,500 cash assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment.
Ejercito exposed the “ayuda” scam in a privilege speech he delivered at the Senate on Tuesday. He presented video clips showing the alleged misuse of social assistance funds in the city.
San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora denied involvement in the scam.
