BAGUIO CITY Philippines — Another forest fire broke out in Bontoc, Mountain Province yesterday.
Members of the Bontoc Fire Station along with villagers in Barangay Teng-ab helped douse the blaze, which started at 11 a.m., and occurred near one of the tourist attractions in the town.
The Bontoc Emergency Operations Center said it has coordinated with local authorities and requested additional support to help prevent the fire from spreading.
A recent fire in Bontoc razed 40 hectares of forest in Mount Pokis.
A smog alert was issued as forest fires also hit parts of Itogon, Tuba and Atok in Benguet as well as in Baguio City recently.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fires.
