MANILA, Philippines — An Indonesian man wanted for human trafficking was arrested in Makati City on Feb. 20, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported on Friday.

Personnel from the BI’s fugitive search unit apprehended Aris Wahyudi alias Romeo, 43, along Salcedo street in Legaspi Village, the BI said in a statement.

Police in Indonesia issued a warrant for Wahyudi’s arrest for human trafficking on Jan. 18.

He is wanted for operating a syndicate that sent his fellow Indonesians to Cambodia for work without proper documents.

The BI also found out Wahyudi’s passport expired in August 2023, making him an undocumented and undesirable alien.

Wahyudi would be deported, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said.
