3 wounded in Maguindanao grenade attack

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two soldiers and a militiaman were wounded when a suspected terrorist hurled a grenade at a military detachment in Shariff Kabunsuan, Maguindanao del Sur on Monday night.

S/Sgt. Jester Arsulo and Sgt. Bryan Baylon, both of the Army’s 33rd Infantry Battalion, and Nur Akmad of the CAFGU Active Auxiliary were taken to a hospital for treatment of shrapnel wounds.

Maj. Saber Balogan, civil-military operations officer of the Army’s 601st Infantry Brigade, said the suspect was believed to be a member of terrorist group Dawlah Islamiya.
