MANILA, Philippines — Household helpers or kasambahay in Central Visayas are expected to get an increase in their monthly pay.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) said it would deliberate on a request to increase the monthly salary of household workers in Central Visayas.
The wage board is currently conducting a survey among kasambahay and their employers to determine their conditions and their prevailing salary.
“By March or April, the board will discuss the proposed wage increase for kasambahay. The result of the survey can guide the board in deciding on the matter,” the RTWPB said.
All stakeholders, including household workers and their employers, were urged to take part in the survey that will run until the end of the month.
The current minimum wage for kasambahay in cities and first-class municipalities in Central Visayas is P5,500.
Household workers in other cities and municipalities receive a monthly salary of P4,500.
Earlier, the RTWPB granted wage hikes for minimum wage earners in the region.
