2 shot dead; probers eye drug link

MANILA, Philippines — Two people were gunned down in southern Metro Manila since Thursday night, with investigators looking into illegal drugs as a possible motive for the attacks.
Anthony Cipriano Aguilar, 22, was shot in front of an eatery in Barangay Baclaran, Parañaque on Thursday night in what could be a drug-related attack, city police chief Col. Reycon Garduque said.
Meanwhile, Jonnaliza Mendoza, 39, was shot dead by two unidentified assailants in front of a convenience store in Barangay Rizal, Taguig at around 6:45 a.m. yesterday.
Precinct 2 chief Capt. Sherwin Revilla said they are looking into illegal drugs as a possible motive for the shooting.
“Our victim was involved in a drug (ring). The suspect appeared to hold a grudge against the victim,” he told The STAR.
