MANILA, Philippines — Single employees of the municipal government in General Luna town in Quezon can avail themselves of a two-day ”special stress leave” this month.

Under an executive order (EO) issued by Mayor Erwin Florido yesterday, single local government employees can file for the special leave with full pay on Feb. 15 and 16.

The EO noted that Valentine’s Day can be a source of stress to many single individuals, so they should be provided an opportunity for “self-care and rejuvenation.”

The grant of the leave aims to “address the psychological well-being of employees by providing them with the necessary time for self-care and stress relief.”

Florido said he would shoulder the funds to pay workers who would avail themselves of the special leave.

Employees who will opt to report for work on Feb. 15 and 16 will get double pay.

Applications for the special leave should be submitted to the human resources office.
