Search for mom, 3 kids in landslide-stricken area in Davao de Oro on
COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Three of the more than 30 people still missing after a landslide hit on Monday night a large area in Barangay Masara in Maco, Davao de Oro are children, local officials reported on Thursday.
Relatives have also separately confirmed to reporters that the siblings Sandrex, 9, Leo, 7, and the 5-year-old Princess Jelian Sandulan were together in their house, made of semi-permanent materials, that got covered with mud and rocks that cascaded from a hill nearby following heavy downpours in the surroundings several hours before.
Their mother, Mae, is also missing according to local officials.
Radio reports here and in nearby cities in Region 12 stated that rescuers are still searching for the three children and their mother until Thursday morning.
The house of the Sandulans is close to the barangay hall in Masara, according to a report from the Maco Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
