Sulu drug suspect slain; P14.4 million marijuana destroyed in Kalinga

MANILA, Philippines — A drug suspect, who has yet to be identified, was killed while another was arrested for alleged possession of shabu worth P3.4 million in a sting in Maimbung, Sulu on Sunday.

The Sulu police said operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, police and military launched the operation in Barangay Poblacion.

In Kalinga, marijuana plants valued at P14.4 million were uprooted in a three-day operation in the mountains in Barangays Buscalan and Ngibat in Tinglayan, Capt. Ruff Manganip, spoke person for the Kalinga police, said.

In Iloilo City, anti-narcotics operatives recovered P2.16 million worth of shabu from four drug suspects arrested in stings on Monday night, Western Visayas police director Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor said.

The four, who were identified only by their aliases of Teresa, Rey, Miriam and Gerry, were apprehended in Barangays San Juan and Veterans Village. — Emmanuel Tupas
