MANILA, Philippines — Marikina City has received P2.3 million in incentive fund from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) after winning the Seal of Good Local Government (SGLG) award.

Mayor Marcelino Teodoro accepted the award on Monday, which showcased the city’s exemplary service and good governance.

In his acceptance speech, Teodoro thanked the DILG for recognizing the
collective efforts of the city government.

DILG National Capital Region head Maria Lourdes Agustin handed over to Teodoro a check for P2.3 million as an incentive.

Agustin said the award is a recognition that symbolizes the commitment and dedication of local government units (LGUs) to adhere to the highest standards of governance.

Teodoro said the award would serve as an inspiration for them to continue setting the standard for transparency and integrity in government.

The SGLG, enacted through Republic Act 11292, is an institutionalized award, incentive, honor and recognition-based program that encourages LGUs to commit to continual advancement and improvement in several governance areas.
