MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Human Rights (CHR)-Mimaropa office is investigating the killing of a barangay official in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro earlier this month.

Citing reports, the CHR said Anacorito Bolor, 63, was stabbed to death at his house in Barangay San Vicente on Jan. 14.

Bolor was a former barangay captain who won as village council member in the Oct. 30 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

The CHR commended the provincial police office for creating a special investigation task group to resolve the killing of Bolor.

It also cited the reward offered by the Calapan city government for information leading to the arrest of the killer.

“The CHR is coordinating with relevant authorities and agencies to aid in the investigation of this case to ensure that accountability is exacted from the perpetrators,” it said.

The commission reiterated its call for the government to implement measures to address criminality.
