MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will be issuing the revised implementing rules and regulations or IRR of the Service Charge Law.
The DOLE’s Bureau of Working Condition head Alvin Curada said they are finalizing the provisions of the IRR.
Curada said they incorporated in the new IRR recommendations from labor and employers’ groups to clearly define the covered employees and the extent of their entitlement to the pooled service charge.
Last week, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma presided over the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (NTIPC) meeting, which focused on the proposed amendments to the IRR of the Service Charge Law.
The council agreed to allow the DOLE, being the NTIPC chair and secretariat, to review and finalize the draft IRR.
The Service Charge Law provides for full and equal distribution of service charges collected by a business establishment for its workers.
