6 Sayyaf men surrender in Sulu

Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Six Abu Sayyaf bandits have surrendered in Sulu, security officials reported yesterday.

Leoner Sahiron, Saupar Asing, Alsid Jalaidi, Ridmar Alih, Jamal Abdusail and Aldi Minis were presented to Joint Task Force Orion and 11th Infantry Division chief Maj. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio at a military camp in Barangay Bud Bayug in Talipao town.

The former bandits reportedly turned over an M1 Garand rifle, an M14 rifle, a Carbine rifle, an M79, an M203 grenade launcher and a caliber .45 pistol.

Patrimonio said the surrenderees underwent custodial debriefing to determine if they have other comrades who remain in hiding.

In October last year, the military and Provincial Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict declared Sulu as Abu Sayyaf-free.
