VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur, Philippines — A drug surrenderee was gunned down in Barangay Ricudo in Sinait town on Thursday night.

Ritchie Ilustrisimo, 39, was drinking liquor when unidentified men arrived and opened fire, investigator Chief Master Sgt. Danny Maligsay said.

Ilustrismo was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Authorities said the victim had resumed his illegal drug trade after being released from jail and undergoing rehabilitation.

In Nueva Ecija, a motorcycle rider, who has yet to be identified, was arrested at a checkpoint in Barangay Nazareth in General Tinio for alleged possession of shabu, a hand grenade, a handgun and bullets.

Police set up the checkpoint after receiving reports on the suspicious activity of a motorcycle rider wearing a wig.
