COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two warring clans in Basilan have also reconciled.

Leaders of the Asarul and Karim clans in Sumisip signed a peace covenant on Wednesday, ending a two-month standoff, according to Brig. Gen. Allan Nobleza, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao police director.

A shooting at a roadside eatery in Barangay Buli-Buli on Nov. 8 that left one member each of the Asarul and Karim clans dead triggered the feud.

Nobleza said the two clans agreed to settle their conflict during a dialogue at the headquarters of the 101st Infantry Brigade in Barangay Tabiawan in Isabela City.

The signing of the peace covenant came a day after two warring groups of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in Hadji Muhammad Ajul town signed a peace covenant that ended a three-year rido.
