MANILA, Philippines — A security screening officer assigned at the Iloilo International Airport (IIA) has returned a wallet containing more than P60,000 and identification cards left by a passenger.

The IIA’s Office for Transportation Security (OTS) said Joseph Mateo found the wallet near the x-ray machine and informed his superiors about the matter.

Mateo and his superiors reviewed footage of a closed-circuit television camera installed in the area to identify the owner of the wallet.

The owner, who requested not to be identified, thanked Mateo for returning his wallet

OTS officer-in-charge Jose Briones Jr. commended Mateo for his honesty.

“Mateo’s actions serve as a shining example of the dedication and professionalism exhibited by OTS airport screeners. His commitment to maintain the highest standards of security and integrity is commendable and reinforces the public’s trust in the OTS as an organization,” Briones said.
