MANILA, Philippines — Eight men were arrested for allegedly engaging in illegal fishing in San Jose, Romblon on Friday.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Southern Tagalog district said the suspects yielded P169,000 worth of equipment including a motor boat, compressor, flashlights, spears and goggles.

At least 50 kilos of assorted fish were also seized from the suspects, according to Lt. Junior Grade Sean Jayner Cabral, chief of the PCG Romblon station.

The PCG said the suspects were caught fishing in the waters off Barangay Pinamihagan.
