KORONADAL CITY — A mother who owns a restaurant and her son were killed in another gun attack in Pikit town in Cotabato on Tuesday afternoon.
In an initial report Tuesday, the Cotabato Provincial Police Office and the Army’s 90th Infantry Battalion said Betty Cadulong Lu and his son, Jonard, were together at the entrance of their roadside restaurant in the town proper of Pikit when a man armed with a pistol approached them casually and opened fire.
In a report to the Cotabato PPO, the Pikit Municipal Police Station said that Lu died instantly from multiple bullet wounds while Jonard passed away in a hospital about an hour later.
Lu’s brother, the physician Robert Cadulong Sr. was killed in a gun attack in a busy spot in Pikit barely two years ago.
Pikit is touted as the “crime capital” of Region 12, owing to the unabated killings in the area since 2020.
More than 50 people had since been killed in a gun attack after another in the area, all unsolved.
