COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A man was taken into custody for beheading a woman following an argument in Barangay Canayugan in Bayugan City, Agusan del Norte on Tuesday.

Mario Fortun, 48, confessed to killing Rosalinda Abing, 60, the Bayugan and Agusan del Sur police offices said in separate reports.

Barangay officials said the incident occurred when Fortun asked Abing to remove a pile of garbage and thorny plants blocking a path near her store.

Witnesses said Abing instead shouted invectives at Fortun, prompting the suspect to take a machete and then hack the woman.

Fortun reportedly took Abing’s head to a house where his friends were having a drinking spree.

In Davao City, a manhunt for Marcial Gonzales, 52, who was accused of stabbing to death two women in Purok 1, Barangay 2 A is underway.

Police have yet to identify the victims.
