MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) condemned the killing of a father of its employee in Manila on Thursday.
PRC chairman Richard Gordon on Friday expressed outrage after Romeo Lagabo, 59, was stabbed dead by two truck loading assistants at the Dagohoy Public Market in San Andres Bukid.
“I call on the Philippine National Police to bring justice to Mr. Lagado’s senseless death by apprehending the brothers, aged 26 and 28, who took advantage of the victim,” he said in a statement.
Gordon said the suspects, whom he did not identify, punched and stabbed Lagado multiple times.
Lagado is the father of John Paul Lagado, a PRC employee and a Red Cross Youth volunteer for seven years.
One of the suspects is in police custody while the other remains at large.
