MANILA, Philippines — Two Porsches with an estimated value of P30 million have been seized at the Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

In a statement released yesterday, the Bureau of Customs-Port of Cagayan de Oro (BOC-CDO) said the shipment, said to contain 1,045 pieces of truck replacement parts, was consigned to M. Aguila Car Trading.

The BOC-CDO said the shipment arrived from South Korea on Dec. 12 and was intercepted by members of its port and intelligence groups on Dec. 15.

The BOC conducted seizure operations after receiving derogatory information about the contents of the shipment.

Acting BOC-CDO port district collector Alexandra Lumontad issued an alert order for a full examination of the container, which resulted in the discovery of the luxury vehicles.

A warrant of seizure and detention will be issued against the shipment for violation of Section 1400 in relation to Section 1113 of Republic Act 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio assured the public of the bureau’s continued vigilance against smuggling.

“Our ports are steadfast in protecting our borders to ensure that goods are thoroughly inspected, preventing illicit cargo entry,” Rubio said.
