5 illegal firecracker manufacturers nabbed in Bulacan

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan, Philippines — Five illegal firecracker manufacturers were arrested in Bocaue, San Ildefonso and Santa Maria towns in Bulacan over the weekend.

The five were allegedly caught manufacturing firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices without the necessary documents and permits, according to reports submitted to Bulacan Police officer-in-charge Lt. Col. Jacqueline Puapo.

Two of the suspects are from San Ildefonso, two from Bocaue and one from Santa Maria.

Confiscated from them were 1,400 pieces of pla-pla, a prohibited oversized firecracker; 100 pieces of bawang; 20 pieces of Judas belt, each with 1,000 rounds; 10 kilos of firecracker fuses with an estimated market value of P13,600; 600 pieces of Roman candles, and various paraphernalia for making firecrackers.
