MANILA, Philippines — At least 2,500 government personnel will be deployed for the Metro Manila Film Festival’s “Parade of Stars” today, Northern Police District (NPD) director Brig. Gen. Rizalito Gapas told The STAR yesterday.

The 2,500 personnel will be composed of members of the NPD as well as traffic enforcers and employees of concerned agencies from Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela, Gapas said.

He said they held a meeting yesterday morning to discuss security measures for the three-hour parade.

The 8.5-kilometer parade route will start at the Navotas Freedom Park, pass through Malabon and Caloocan and end at the Valenzuela People’s Park, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

The NPD conducted an ocular inspection and dry run on Thursday to ensure the safety of fans of celebrities taking part in the parade.

NPD personnel were deployed starting at 10 p.m. yesterday for the parade, which is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. today.

This will be the first time that the Parade of Stars will pass through four cities.

The film festival will start on Dec. 25 and end on Jan. 7, 2024, with 10 films as entries.
