4 dead in Cavite fire

MANILA, Philippines — Four people died and three others were injured when a fire razed a residential area in Bacoor, Cavite on Friday.

John Michael Cossid, 21, and three children, aged six to 10, were trapped in their homes in Barangay Talaba II.

Three others were injured in the blaze, Calabarzon police spokesperson Lt. Col. Chitadel Gaoiran said.

The city disaster risk reduction and management office said 86 families were rendered homeless in the fire, which broke out at around 3 a.m. 

Around 70 houses made of light materials were destroyed.

The affected residents sought shelter at the Talaba IV Elementary School, where they were provided relief assistance by the city government.

 Arson probers have yet to determine the cause of the fire that left P2.25-million damage to property.

In Laguna, three persons were injured when a fire razed a house in Rizal town in Laguna on Thursday.

Injured were Natalie Toledo, Adrian Murillo and Alden Murillo.

The fire, which broke out at around 9:38 p.m., destroyed the residence of a family in Barangay Antipolo, police said.

Arson probers said an unattended candle caused the fire.
