BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — After thoroughly inspecting Kennon Road, a major artery leading to this city and Benguet, members of the Joint Inter-Agency Task Force are contemplating the full reopening of the road to the public.
The task force is responding to requests to fully open Kennon Road in order to lessen the traffic volume in Baguio City as well as along Marcos Highway, especially during peak season and holidays.
The requests were contained in a resolution submitted by the Baguio City peace and order council as well as the Metropolitan Baguio City, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba, Tublay Development Authority Council.
The city’s peace and order council cited traffic congestion along Marcos Highway and Naguillan Road.
It said that traffic had worsened since the rehabilitation of Kennon Road started.
Only residents in barangays located along Kennon are allowed to pass through the road.
