P67.3 million shabu seized at NAIA

MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents intercepted 9.89 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu valued at P67.3 million in Pasay City on Tuesday night.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said the shabu was confiscated during an interdiction operation at the Pair PAGS Center at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) complex at around 7:10 p.m.
Lawmen took into custody Gayzel Marie Sabile, 40, a resident of Sta. Ana in Manila, after she received the parcel that contained the drug.
An identification card and a cell phone were seized from the suspect.
The parcel, which was declared to contain spare parts, originated from Mozambique in Southeastern Africa.
The shipment arrived in the country on an Ethiopian Airlines flight last Dec. 2.
Sabile is being held on charges of violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, and RA 10863, the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
