Reports said the Cyclone aircraft with tail number RP-C1234 took off from the domestic airport in Cauayan at 9:39 a.m., but failed to arrive at the coastal town airport.

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines — A Cessna plane was reported missing after taking off from the Palanan airport in Isabela yesterday.

Reports said the Cyclone aircraft with tail number RP-C1234 took off from the domestic airport in Cauayan at 9:39 a.m., but failed to arrive at the coastal town airport.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said on board the aircraft were the pilot, Capt. Levy Abul II, and an unidentified passenger.

Authorities tried but failed to contact the plane’s radio as well as the mobile phones of the pilot.

Search and rescue operations as well as an investigation are ongoing.
