3 drown in Quezon

MANILA, Philippines — Three people drowned in separate incidents in Quezon province on Sunday.

Gabriel Francisco, 29, of Novaliches, Quezon City, was on an excursion with his friends in Real town when he was swept away by the waves.

Francisco’s friend Andy Corvilla, 26, tried but failed to rescue him as he too was carried away by the current.

Corvilla survived and was taken to a hospital where he is curently recovering.

In nearby Sariaya town, two men identified only as Harold and Francis drowned in a public resort in Barangay Talaan Aplaya.

The victims were declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Meanwhile, in Bataan, a 15-year-old boy drowned in a river in Balanga on Saturday.

The body of John Mark Marasigan was recovered on Sunday morning in Talisay River in Barangay Puerto Rivas.

The victim and his three friends were swimming when Marasigan was carried away by the current.

Marasigan’s friends sought the help of barangay officials, who responded but failed to immediately find the teenager.

In Batangas, personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard recovered the body of a man who fell into a river in San Nicolas town.

Lorenzo Bumad-ang, 30, was reportedly drunk when he fell into the river in Barangay Poblacion.

Bumad-ang was declared dead on arrival at the Taal Polymedic Hospital. — Evelyn Macairan, Michelle Zoleta
