Bus shooting: Cops close in on killers
MANILA, Philippines — Police have obtained leads on two men who shot dead two bus passengers in Nueva Ecija last week.
The Isabela police provided information about the suspects, Col. Jean Fajardo, Philippine National Police public information chief, said yesterday.
Gloria Quillano, 60, and her partner Arman Bautista, 55, who were residents of Cauayan, Isabela, were in a Victory Liner bus bound for Manila when they were shot while sleeping.
The gunmen emerged from the back seats of the bus while the vehicle traversed Barangay Minuli in Carranglan.
The shooting, which was captured by the dashcam installed in the bus, went viral on social media.
Asked if probers have the names of the assailants, Fajardo expressed confidence that the information provided by the Isabela police would help in identifying them.
Police had earlier said Quillano’s son is a person of interest in the incident.
Fajardo said Quillano reportedly had a falling out with her son after he allegedly stole land titles, a vehicle and jewelry from her house.
She said Quillano filed charges against her son, who is out on bail.
The victim’s son had denied any involvement in the killing.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued a show-cause order to Victory Liner Inc.
The LTFRB said it should be determined if there was negligence on the part of the bus company to provide security measures.
