‘Embo’ businesses advised to register in Taguig

MANILA, Philippines — Business establishments in the enlisted men’s barrio or “embo” barangays, which were previously under the jurisdiction of Makati City, are now advised to register in Taguig.

In a Facebook post, the Taguig City government announced that its business permits and licensing office will start accepting the registration of businesses establishments from the 10 “embo” barangays.

The replacement of Makati business permits will also be accommodated and processed, the city government added.

The local government said those who wish to register may visit the licensing office at Taguig city hall or its satellite office at SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City.

Meanwhile, road traffic regulations in Taguig will now also be implemented in the 10 “embo” barangays.

This came after the city’s traffic management office released a traffic advisory stating that all its road regulations, including the no number coding policy, will now cover the 10 barangays transferred to its jurisdiction.

In December 2021, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Taguig, putting to an end the territorial dispute between the two cities.

However, tension between the two cities flared up last August after both cities claimed ownership of the 14 public schools in the “embo” barangays.
