MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have recaptured all nine detainees who escaped from the Manila Police District’s Station 1 jail in Tondo, the MPD reported yesterday.

The last escapee – Jefferson Sapa Tumbaga – was recaptured before dawn yesterday along Molino Road in Bacoor, Cavite.

Tumbaga is facing charges of illegal possession of firearms related to the gun ban imposed by the Commission on Elections for the recently concluded barangay and youth council elections.

Tumbaga and eight other detainees bolted the custodial facility of the MPD’s Raxabago station on Nov. 8.

Aside from violating the election gun ban, the escapees are facing complaints for robbery and illegal drugs.

MPD Station 1 commander Lt. Col. Roberto Mupas was sacked following the jailbreak.

Mupas was replaced by Lt. Col. Melvin Florida during a ceremony led by acting MPD director Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay on Nov. 9.
