MANILA, Philippines — A 57-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing cable wires in Quezon City on Thursday, police reported yesterday.

The suspect, Fernando Villanueva, is facing a complaint before the city prosecutor’s office for violation of Republic Act 10515, or the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act, Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said.

Villanueva was collared by operatives of the La Loma police station in Barangay Sto. Domingo at around 5:45 p.m.

Maranan said a concerned citizen alerted the station about Villanueva, who was cutting copper cables at the corner of Don Pepe and Maria Clara streets.

Seized from suspect were 200 pairs of copper cable wire, each approximately five meters in length, valued at P9,221.
