Motorcycle backrider hit by truck, falls from flyover
MANILA, Philippines — A 37-year-old woman fell from a flyover in Quezon City after she and her partner were hit by a truck yesterday.
The victim, Arlyn Ruby, and her partner, Dionel Besa, 38, were traveling along the northbound lane of the Quezon Avenue flyover in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa on a motorcycle when the accident occurred at around 12 a.m.
Police investigators said a truck hit the couple, hurling Ruby onto EDSA below the flyover.
An ambulance from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority brought Ruby to the East Avenue Medical Center for medical treatment. Her partner was also treated for injuries.
The truck driver, Alfred Muli, told probers he swerved to the left lane to avoid hitting another vehicle.
Muli is detained at the Quezon City Police District’s Traffic Sector 65 where he is being held on complaints for reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries and damage to property.
