MANILA, Philippines — A total of 10,000 Parañaque residents received financial and rice assistance from the national government on Sunday.
The beneficiaries were given P1,050 each and 25 kilos of rice worth P950.
Mayor Eric Olivarez attended the aid distribution in Barangay San Dionisio and at the Don Bosco gymnasium.
Olivarez extended his gratitude to the national government for the assistance.
The initiative is part of the cash and rice distribution or CARD program of the House of Representatives and Department of the Interior and Local Government.
The CARD program was launched in 33 legislative districts in Metro Manila, with 10,000 beneficiaries each.
Around 5,000 beneficiaries from the cities of Biñan and Sta. Cruz in Laguna also received financial and rice assistance.
According to the national government, the program will be implemented in over 250 congressional districts in the Philippines.
A total of P670 million has been allotted for the implementation of the CARD program.
