CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — Twenty men wanted by authorities on different charges were arrested in separate areas in Central Luzon during the holidays, police said yesterday.
Two of the suspects were collared as they were visiting the graves of their relatives, according to Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., Central Luzon police director.
Hidalgo said the two-day operation resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old tricycle driver from Angat, Bulacan, who has been wanted for murder with no bail recommended.
Police also arrested a fugitive from Baliwag, who is facing charges of two counts of rape. The rest have pending robbery and drug charges.
“While the Central Luzon police’s primary focus on Nov. 1 and 2 was the safety and security of the public in cemeteries, it also seized the opportunity to track down wanted people expected to visit the graves of their loved ones,” Hidalgo said.
He urged the public to support law enforcement efforts against wanted men, and the families of these men to surrender their relatives to the police.
