MANILA, Philippines — Two hundred ninety-eight police officers received a heroes’ welcome from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Nov. 2 after they were deployed to help secure the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

“What you did there put a mark that anywhere else, we can serve and properly accomplish our duty and mission, which is to maintain peace and order as well as to secure the safety of our people,” Nartatez said during the heroes’ welcome at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig to the 298 members of the NCRPO’s Regional Mobile Force Battalion who returned from BARMM.

The police officers, who were among the 800 police officers who were deployed in BARMM, arrived at the Villamor Air Base on Thursday.

A week prior to the elections, the Commission on Elections declared that more than half of the villages classified as election “hotspots” belong to BARMM.
