MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected car thieves are facing criminal complaints following their arrest in Quezon City.

Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said Antonio Vicente, 44, and Edison Miller, 30, are accused of stealing a  Honda City subcompact car along a street in Barangay Masagana last Sept. 14.

An in-depth probe, including a review of surveillance cameras along the place where the car was stolen led to the identification of Miller, who was arrested on Oct. 25 on charges of violating Republic Act 10591, or the comprehensive law on firearms and ammunition.

Meanwhile, Vicente was apprehended on Friday along Payatas Road at around 6 a.m.

Maranan said a concerned citizen tipped the police about Vicente, who was driving the stolen vehicle.

Complaints for violation of Presidential Decree 1612, or the anti-fencing law, and Republic Act 10883, also known as the new anti-carnapping law, are being readied against the suspects.

Maranan lauded the vehicle’s owner for reporting the incident to the police.
