MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Pasig has inaugurated a 12,000-door cemetery-columbarium.

“The initial structure started during the previous administration. However, there were things missing or that needed adjustments,” the city government’s public information office said in a statement yesterday.

The adjustments include 12,000 niche doors and the establishment of a permanent Pasig cemetery office, Mayor Vico Sotto said.

Sotto said he was surprised that the niche doors were not included in the original plan, while the Pasig cemetery office was housed in a shipping container for a long time.

The city government has also made improvements to the building plans such as fixing the elevator and the chapel’s non-functional ramps. It also waterproofed the structure and addressed drainage issues.
