Rainy Undas due to LPA, shear line

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) spotted off Catanduanes will bring rains over parts of the country as Filipinos observe All Saints’ Day today.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was monitored 185 kilometers east of Virac as of 3 p.m. yesterday.

The weather system is not forecast to develop into a tropical cyclone, but it will bring rains as it moves toward the Philippine landmass.

PAGASA said the shear line is affecting the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon while the northeast monsoon is affecting Northern Luzon and the rest of Central Luzon.

The LPA and shear line will bring scattered rains over parts of the Visayas, Bicol, Mimaropa, Calabarzon and Aurora.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or amihan will bring cloudy skies with rains over parts of Cagayan Valley.

Isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms are forecast over Mindanao.

PAGASA warned the public of flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

It said the northeast monsoon may also bring isolated light rains, but will have no significant impact over Metro Manila, Ilocos, the Cordilleras and the rest of Central Luzon.
