MALOLOS, Philippines —At least 4,000 policemen were deployed to secure cemeteries and transport terminals in Central Luzon during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., Central Luzon police director, said 1,000 policemen were deployed at designated motorist assistance centers, where they will serve as road safety marshals along major thoroughfares and secondary roads.
Hidalgo said 3,000 personnel were assigned to man police hubs and assistance desks at cemeteries, major transport terminals and other areas of public convergence.
He said checkpoints, chokepoints and other border control operations are underway along roads leading to police camps to prevent any untoward incident.
Hidalgo said the police is targeting a “zero crime incidence” during the Halloween break.
In Bulacan, Manuel Lukban Jr., Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) head, said a mobile command and control vehicle was put up as an incident command post and first aid station at the Manila Memorial Cemetery in Guiguinto.
He said the PDRRMO would conduct roving and monitoring activities in the 24 cities and towns in Bulacan to ensure that response teams are prepositioned, on standby and ready for any eventuality.
