MANILA, Philippines — Two fishermen, who were reported missing while fishing in the West Philippine Sea on Thursday, were rescued on Friday.

The boat of the two fishermen drifted from its mother boat FB Lantis Andrei due to strong winds and big waves after it ran out of fuel, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said in a statement.

The PCG district in Palawan launched search and rescue operations after receiving information from the Naval Forces West based in Puerto Princesa.

The PCG deployed the BRP Sindangan and found the two fishermen on their boat in the vicinity of the Bulig Shoal.

The Sindangan has been escorting boats delivering supplies to Marines manning the BRP Sierra Madre.

The PCG said the two fishermen were found in good condition. The two were provided medical attention and meals before they returned to their mother boat.
