MANILA, Philippines — A policeman has been tagged as a person of interest in the case of missing Miss Grand Philippines 2023 candidate Catherine Camilon.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. vowed to hold the policeman accountable if there is evidence linking him to Camilon’s disappearance.
“We will not tolerate any wrongdoing,” Acorda told a press briefing.
The policeman, who has yet to be identified, was relieved from his post and transferred to the regional personnel holding and accounting unit, Calabarzon police director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas said in a statement.
Lucas said the administrative relief of the policeman is necessary to ensure that the investigation is free from any influence.
Probers said the policeman is the boyfriend of Camilon and they agreed to meet on the day she was reported missing.
Police said the policeman gave the vehicle that Camilon used when she went missing.
