MANILA, Philippines — More than 1,600 senior citizens in Las Piñas City have received free flu vaccines from the local government.

The city health office announced yesterday that 1,643 seniors had been inoculated as of Oct. 17.

Out of the total number, around 700 elderly are from the city’s first district.

The figure includes seniors residing in Barangays Pamplona Uno, Pamplona Dos, Basa, Balagtas and Zapato.

At least 900 elderly from the city’s second district, residing in Barangays Talon Dos and BF Carnival, also received their flu shots.

Las Piñas Vice Mayor April Aguilar led the flu vaccinations in both districts.

According to the city government, the initiative is part of Las Piñas’ strong commitment to taking care of its citizens, especially the elderly.
