4 hurt in chemical explosion

MANILA, Philippines — Four people were injured in a chemical explosion in Quezon City on Thursday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)’s National Capital Region field unit said the incident in the one-story building of ABAM Steel Fabrication in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon occurred at around 2:02 p.m.

It caused a fire that was put out at around 2:10 p.m.

Jerome Arcilla, 62; Geronimo Arcilla, 60; Fernando Arcilla, 45, and Michael Tubiera, 30, were brought to a hospital for treatment of burns on the body.

Two fire trucks and three ambulances were at the scene.

Arson probers have yet to determine the cause of the explosion.
