Passenger held for gun, bullets at Puerto Princesa airport

MANILA, Philippines — A passenger bound for Iloilo was arrested at the Puerto Princesa Airport on Wednesday for allegedly carrying a handgun with three bullets.

Alejandro Penaflor Jr. was supposed to board a Cebu Pacific Flight when the gun and bullets were found in his backpack as it passed through the X-ray scanner and during manual inspection, Office of Transportation Security (OTS) spokesperson Kim Marquez said.

Peñaflor and the items that were seized from him were turned over to the custody of the police Aviation Security Unit for further investigation and proper disposition.

The suspect faces charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
