Quezon City cops warned against partisan politics
MANILA, Philippines — As the 10-day campaign period for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) started yesterday, the director of the Quezon City Police District warned QCPD personnel to refrain from engaging in partisan political activities.
QCPD chief Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan reminded police officers under his command about the importance of
maintaining professionalism, impartiality and integrity at all times.
“Partisan acts have no place in our mission,” he said in a statement.
Maranan said engaging in any form of partisan behavior is prohibited and any evidence pointing to such acts will result in sanctions on erring police officers.
“If there is credible evidence indicating your involvement in such activities, the QCPD will ensure that charges will be
instituted without delay,” he said.
Maranan said partisan behavior not only undermines public trust in law enforcement institutions, but also contradicts the essence of justice the Philippine National Police stands for.
He reminded BSKE candidates to abide by the rules set by the Commission on Elections.
