2 dead in hacking spree

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A man went on a hacking spree in Asipulo, Ifugao on Wednesday, killing a five-year-old boy and wounding 11 other people.

The fatality was identified as Hanz Joe Tagnaon.

The suspect, Davis Bullong, 44, who was shot by policemen when he entered a school, died while being treated in a hospital.

Asipulo police chief Capt. Francisco Buyuccan said Bullong, who was armed with a bolo, first attacked four people at their homes in two sitios and then entered the Amduntog barangay hall, where he attacked Tagnaon, village chief Aldrick Hagada and three other children.

Responding policemen collared Bullong at the Asipulo Central School, where he attacked another victim.
