CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Five members of a family, including two children, were believed killed before their house was set on fire by unidentified men in this city on Wednesday.
Col. Ivan Viñas, spokesperson for the Cagayan de Oro police, identified the fatalities as Melgen Galpo, 31; his wife Aslyn, 30; their children Yolem, 7, and Jolo, 4; and Aslyn’s sister Maggie Epanes, 25.
Viñas said the charred remains of the victims were recovered at their house.
“The suspects remain at large. The motive for the killing remains unknown,” he said.
Cagayan de Oro Mayor Rolando Uy visited the wake of the victims. He assured the relatives of the victims that the city government would shoulder the cremation and burial expenses.
