MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Army will be taking home at least a silver medal in the military patrol Olympics being held in Wales, United Kingdom.

Going against at least 170 patrolling teams from other countries, the Philippine contingent still has a chance of winning a gold medal.

The Philippine Army team won silver for its performance for the Phase II of Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2023.

Eight soldiers from the First Scout Ranger Regiment, led by 1st Lt. Junjun Bayudan, successfully hurdled Phase II of the British Army’s most arduous patrolling event.

Cambrian Patrol, also called the Olympics of Military Patrolling, is a mission-focused and scenario-based exercise comprising eight phases covering 16 events.

The events include chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear drills, counter-improvised explosive devices and a 60-kilometer patrol with climb and descent.

The Exercise Cambrian Patrol hosted by the Royal Welsh will run until Oct. 15.

The Philippine Army said no team qualified for the gold medal.

Army chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido commended the troops for showcasing the country’s tactical proficiency, adaptability and determination in the international arena.
