Saudi Arabian dead, Filipina wife hurt in Maguindanao del Sur ambush
COTABATO CITY — A Saudi Arabian was killed in an ambush in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur on Tuesday night.
The ambush left his Filipina wife wounded.
Solaiman Jamal and his spouse, Bainor, an ethnic Maguindanaon, were together in a white Ford pick-up truck when they were attacked by gunmen at a busy stretch of a highway in Shariff Aguak, not too distant from a roadside police outpost.
Mayor Datu Akmad Baganian Ampatuan Sr., chairman of the Shariff Aguak Municipal Peace and Order Council and officials of the Maguindanao del Sur Provincial Police Office separately told reporters on Wednesday that Jamal was a citizen of Saudi Arabia, citing information relayed by relatives of his wife, who was badly hurt in the incident.
Jamal died on the spot from a bullet wound in the head, according to Col. Roel R. Sermese, director of the Maguindanao del Sur provincial police.
Jamal’s wife, who sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of his body, is now in a hospital where emergency responders from the Shariff Aguak municipal government rushed her for treatment.
Ampatuan said he is ready to provide with an earnest reward to any informant who can help personnel of the Shariff Aguak Municipal Police Station identify the people behind the atrocity that resulted in the death of Solaiman.
